CS Odessa Releases ConceptDraw V, Major Upgrade of its Business and Technical Diagramming Software

Odessa, Ukraine–October 8, 2003—Computer Systems Odessa has released ConceptDraw V, a major upgrade of its award-winning flowcharting and diagramming application, the only software of its kind designed to work with both Macintosh OS X and Windows. Completely redesigned to facilitate charting and presentation tasks for business and technical users, the new version features ConceptDraw Basic, a built-in scripting language that enables developers to create customized visualization solutions based on the ConceptDraw drawing engine.

“ConceptDraw V is not just a simple upgrade but a comprehensive enhancement of our existing product,” said Vera Zvereva, marketing director for Computer Systems Odessa. “Our users will quickly discover how easy it is to work with our new flexible interface, task-specific wizards and expanded collection of pre-drawn shapes that covers more business, technical and scientific topics than ever before.”

ConceptDraw V enables users to visually develop and express ideas in any combination of drawings, diagrams and charts. A key feature is the ability to select pre-drawn shapes from over a hundred libraries and “drag and drop” them into complex configurations such as workflow designs, network diagrams and UML (Unified Modeling Language) notations. The software can also be used for other kinds of projects, including business consulting; marketing; project management; software design and development; database design; Web site design; systems/network integration and administration; information architecture; resource management; engineering and science.

ConceptDraw V’s customizable toolbars, floating dialogs, anti-aliasing feature and strong adherence to WYSIWYG provide a user-friendly environment and improved representational quality. Because of a completely rebuilt kernel, the program consumes fewer resources, enabling users to work with outsized files quickly and efficiently. New features such as Vector Picture technology enable users to work easily with even the most complex CAD documents.

The addition of XML (Extensible Markup Language) for Visio allows users to import diagrams that have been created using Microsoft Visio. ConceptDraw V can also access ODBC-compliant databases and visualize the data stored therein. Other enhancements include a fully redesigned text editor; the ability to create custom styles; password protection and auto-save.

ConceptDraw V is available in Standard and Professional versions. The Standard Edition ($149) is aimed at business users, managers and administrative staff. The Professional Edition ($349 for a single-user license) is designed specifically for IT, technical users and developers. Current users can upgrade the Professional version for $99. The Standard license upgrade is $79. Discounts for educational users and users of other diagramming software are available.

The full product line comprises ConceptDraw diagramming and drawing software; ConceptDraw MINDMAP, a brainstorming tool that uses mind mapping technique to help organize ideas and tasks; ConceptDraw PRESENTER, an application for creating slide shows, animated presentations and Flash movies; and ConceptDraw Viewer a free application that enables users to view and print any ConceptDraw file. Also available is ConceptDraw MEDICAL, a special module for medical and biochemical specialists.
