"We now use TRACS* software from Weseley to manage Whirlpool's load control center and distribution facilities. Our plans are to deploy the latest client/server version of TRACS* to link other points in our supply chain, including third party logistics providers, into the same system over our wide area network. By using TRACS* 3.1 to manage our inbound parts distribution, we'll have instant visibility on all inbound and outbound activity." Bob Petz, Manager, Transportation Operations, Whirlpool Corporation. December 3, 1996 --Shelton, Conn.-- Weseley Software, a market leader in logistics automation, today announced the availability of TRACS*3.1 client/server transportation management software for load control centers. In addition to enhancements to TRACS*' shipment routing and optimization modules, this release includes three new client/server offerings: TRACS*Assign, TRACS*Offer, and TRACS*Status. TRACS*3.1 is a set of management tools that automate shipment planning, operational execution and status tracking activities. TRACS* is designed to streamline the routine aspects of transportation management, giving traffic staff more time to address "hot spots" or exceptions. TRACS* is usually integrated with order entry, warehousing and carrier systems so that shipping information can be electronically shared between business groups at specific points in the shipping cycle. According to Mitch Weseley, Weseley's founder and president, TRACS*3.1 is a milestone for his company's customers because it provides a client/server-based solution that allows shippers with multiple distribution points to centralize their shipment planning activities. "Many shippers realize that centralized logistics planning gives them new, 'real time' visibility into their supply chain-and a way to further reduce their freight costs. One of our clients centralized with TRACS* and saved in excess of $1 million in the first year alone," Weseley noted. Weseley's Load Control Center solution consists of five modules: TRACS*Routing Manager, TRACS*LoadBuilder, TRACS*Assign, TRACS*Offer, and TRACS*Status. TRACS*Routing Manager builds a central transportation database for information on carriers, tariffs, rates, equipment, ship locations, consignees, etc. This creates a transportation "profile" of the entire shipping network. TRACS*LoadBuilder adds an optimization engine that can manage shipment consolidation and load planning for multiple shipping points. TRACS*Assign provides flexible "auto-assign" capabilities by analyzing a group of loads and assigning carriers and equipment according to user-definable preferences. TRACS*Offer provides electronic load tendering according to user-definable preferences. TRACS*Status is an intelligent messaging center that captures EDI status messages, monitors delivery events and alerts the traffic planner of potential "hot spots" in the distribution network. TRACS* modules may be acquired separately or used together to create a complete load control center logistics solution. Multiple user site licenses are also available. TRACS*3.1 is Microsoft Windows® compatible and platform independent.
