Imtech's Activu Display and Control Solution Gains Worldwide Acceptance

Unique Mirroring Feature Connects Multiple Sites for Data Conferencing and Remote Monitoring

May 13, 2002 -- Denville, N.J. -- ActivuTM, the large-scale and desktop data video display and control solution from Imtech Corporation, has gained broad acceptance from major corporate and government users since its introduction in 2000. Activu is now being used in network operations centers, control rooms, trading floors and corporate communications at over thirty locations on four continents. Activu users include: Lockheed Martin; Northrup Grumman; American Airlines; CIGNA; J.P. Morgan; Thomas Weisel Partners, Williams Energy, and U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM).

"Activu is network software-based and runs on standard servers, offering an integrated solution free of proprietary hardware," said Paul Noble, Imtech's CEO. "This approach results in increased price/performance, greater reliability and exceptional ease of installation and use.

"In addition to display and control, Activu can dynamically link sites for data conferencing and remote monitoring. This capability has enabled our clients to enhance their communication of real-time data between sites in such mission-critical applications as network monitoring, financial trading and military decision-making."

Imtech client, TASC (www.tasc.com), a subsidiary of the Northrop Grumman Corporation, provides engineering, information technology, and management consulting services to US Government agencies. Essential to cross-location collaboration, the Activu driven information walls are at the heart of TASC's R&D and integration processes. "Our projects involve proof of concept demonstrations, product evaluation, interoperability testing, and system integration," explains Bob Brammer, TASC's Chief Technology Officer. "We work with more than a hundred suppliers of security-related technology in areas such as computer network security, Smart Cards, physical access control, digital video surveillance, biometrics, and others. Our highly specialized personnel - more than half of the technical staff has advanced degrees and special security clearances - are located in many TASC offices. However, the information walls allow groups of our professionals to view and manipulate data simultaneously with their colleagues in other offices. This enables far more effective collaboration than huddling around workstations. Because the information walls have resolution far greater than workstation displays, we are able to interact with much larger data sets."

Brammer has been aware of Imtech since the mid 90's and has seen this technology develop to meet TASC's requirements. "We chose Imtech's technology for several reasons. The ability to network the walls and to consolidate information sources from anywhere on our laboratory LANs or Internet VPN WAN was essential. The display technology is also critical. We place heavy emphasis on the visualization of very large data sets such as logs from network intrusion detections systems. We do this in order to enable the rapid decision making required for security applications."
