Case Study

HiTechPR helps Genoa launch a new multi-primary color television display system and wins gold in the process.

Genoa Color Technologies, a small Israeli startup, was seeking to gain recognition as an important new player in the consumer electronics industry with the introduction of its state-of-the-art ColorPeak color enhancement technology for use in TVs, monitors, projectors and other display devices.

The Plan

HiTechPR worked with Genoa to create a first-class program on a limited budget that would launch the ColorPeak technology primarily through the use of PR. A tour of six cities was planned to demo the product to key technology editors. The strategy would involve creating a key campaign message easily understood by technical editors as well as mainstream editors. Coincidently it was the 50th anniversary of the first commercial color TV shipped by RCA. The initial news release “grabber” headline and key message became: “Genoa Reinvents Color Television Fifty Years After Its Introduction.”

Going for Gold

As a campaign driven primarily by PR, the launch of Genoa’s ColorPeak technology engaged the press and sparked tremendous media coverage including The New York Times, Business Week, Fortune, The Washington Post, and The Washington Times. Numerous other placements appeared in consumer electronics publications as well as top rated online venues, Blogs and interest groups. In addition, HiTechPR was awarded the Gold Award in the client product launch category of the International Mercury Communications Awards (beating out a number of the world's largest  public relations firms, who finished second and third respectively) and two Gold Awards in the Bulldog Reporter PR competition honoring "excellence in public relations and corporate communications.” Genoa was the winner of the Grand Award in the home entertainment category of Popular Science magazine's “Best of What's New” competition.
