TargetVision's New Workforce Communication Solution First to Enable Organizations to Reach Every Employee

State-of-the-Art Intranet Software From Wayfarer Completes TargetVision's Comprehensive Offering for Enterprise-Wide Employee Communications

Rochester, N.Y. --November 10, 1997-- TargetVision Inc., a company whose workforce communication systems are installed at thousands of locations including 150 of the largest corporations in the U.S., announced today the immediate availability of Wayfarer for TargetVision. The comprehensive TargetVision solution is aimed at organizations that need to provide real-time news and internal information to employees using desktop computers while also reaching those without computer access.

The new offering for corporate intranets, seamlessly coupled with TargetVision's market-leading employee communication solution, is said to be the first to provide corporate communicators with the means to effectively reach 100 percent of their organization's workforce.

Wayfarer for TargetVision-the result of a $1 million agreement between the two companies-gives TargetVision the immediate ability to expand its televised, LAN, and kiosk-based messaging systems directly to employee desktops linked to IP networks or intranets-the most popular new technology for connecting users in large organizations.

"TargetVision's mission to provide the means for businesses to communicate with each and every employee in their enterprise perfectly matches Wayfarer's intranet-based technology," said Larry Monheim, president and CEO of TargetVision. "We investigated all of the leading providers of 'push' solutions and selected Wayfarer because we found that their superior technology meets the network requirements and information demands of our customers. Our clients will now have an easier way to communicate their business-relevant news to both desktops and corporate television networks from one TargetVision system. This is a very exciting time to be a TargetVision customer."

The application integrates with TargetVision's established television-based system so that the same messages shown on TVs can be sent to desktops.

"Our customers were asking us to extend our workforce communications solution to include their employees using PCs on their intranets," noted Brian Wade, TargetVision's director of marketing. "By integrating Wayfarer's technology into the TargetVision system, we have fulfilled that need-plus much more."

TargetVision's solution provides organizations with more relevant and timely information because specific messages can be targeted to individuals and groups. It will automatically update an organization's workforce by providing statistics and breaking news in real-time while enabling its users to obtain more specific information simply by linking to news sources, URLs and data sheets attached to messages. The application also features persistent, asynchronous connections that enable efficient messages that take up little network bandwidth-typically about 350 bytes.

"Wayfarer's intranet products deliver to employee's desktops the business intelligence they need to be effective," said John C. Laing, president and CEO of Wayfarer Communications. "The combined Wayfarer and TargetVision solution is ideal for true enterprise-wide deployment of communication solutions for major corporations."
